History of Midway Nissan

Established in 1965, Midway Nissan has grown from a small gas station into a premier auto dealer in the Durham region. We now serve a large area including Oshawa, Whitby, Brooklin, and the surrounding areas.

The first location was on Simcoe Street in Oshawa and in 1965 a license was acquired to sell new Datsuns, and subsequently Nissan following the 1984 re-brand.

Throughout the last 5 decades, we have strived to offer the best possible customer service, top-notch repair/maintenance work, and comprehensive new and pre-owned car, truck, minivan, and SUV inventories.

Drive Autogroup acquired the dealership in 2016 and since then we’ve grown into one of the Greater Toronto Area’s best Nissan dealerships.

Over the years, Midway Nissan has expanded at its current location. We now offer a state-of-the-art 14-vehicle showroom, Parts and Service Centres, a Finance Department, a Pre-Owned Showroom, and a Sales building.

Town of Whitby

Since first opening our doors, we’ve seen Whitby change a lot.

It formed in 1968 when the Town of Whitby and the Township of Whitby combined. Despite having over 100,000 residents local politicians have rejected the designation of a city. Located between Ajax and Oshawa on the 401 Whitby has become known for its focus on local athletics and a peaceful community. 

The town is home to the Iroquois Park Sports Centre (one of the largest in North America) and the Abilities Centre. The Abilities Centre is over 125,000 square feet of recreation equipment designed to be fully accessible by people with mental and physical disabilities.

Fans of Sir Ian Fleming may also recognize it as the real-life location of Camp X, where Fleming trained to be a spy.

Community Involvement

The team at Midway Nissan are proud members of this community, taking every opportunity to give back. We support several different charitable initiatives in the Town of Whitby and the City of Oshawa, including being a drop-off location for both CTV’s Toy Mountain and the Durham Regional Police Services Food and Toy Drive.

In 2018 we were given the chance to be the naming sponsor of the Donevan Recreation Complex in Oshawa and have been providing the community with monthly free skates ever since.

In 2023 we extended this partnership through to 2028 and did a complete renovation of the artwork inside, including new staircase stickers and changing room themes.

To show further commitment to strengthening the surrounding area we also sponsor Oshawa@Play, the City of Oshawa’s Park Program and provided them with a wrapped Rogue. 

Both the Klevr Young Kings and Whitby Wolves have benefited from donations in the past and we are also proud of all of our involvement with Austin Riley of Racing with Autism fame. Austin is the first professional race car driver with Autism and has competed in the Nissan Micra Cup Series in the past.
